Policies

1) Attendance — Regular, weekly attendance is expected. Make-up lessons can be scheduled if the instructor is notified of cancellation at least one week in advance. Make-up lessons will be given if the instructor cancels a lesson. Instructor will make up lessons in the case of illness; please notify the instructor as soon as possible. Lessons missed due to severe weather will be made up. The last Monday of each month is the designated day for lessons to be made up. If you have cancelled a lesson for any reason you may make up the lesson on the scheduled make up day. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor to schedule the make-up lesson. A lesson will not be made up if the student does not show up for their regularly scheduled lesson time and does not call the instructor.

2) Tuition and fees — There will be a $20 enrollment fee when the student signs up for lessons. Tuition will be billed on a monthly basis and will be due by the first lesson of the month. A late fee of $5.00 will be charged for payments that are made after the first scheduled lesson. Students whose accounts are not paid in full by the 8th of the month will not receive lessons after this date until the account balance is paid. A $25.00 fee will be charged in the event of a returned check. Tuition is non-refundable and does not include the cost of supplies. A discount of $5.00 will be given for immediate family members, child or adult, beginning with the second registered family member. The enrollment fee will be waved for additional family members. No lessons, once paid, will be refunded. If the student chooses to skip a month of lessons a new enrollment fee will be required when lessons resume. If the student chooses to participate in any scheduled recital, a recital fee will be assessed at that time.

3) Expectations — Students are to arrive at each lesson punctually, well prepared, and with all materials. Lessons may not extend into another student's time period. Therefore, if a student arrives late, the lesson will end at the usual time without an adjustment in fee. Parents are welcome to attend their child's lesson at any time; however, the regular attendance of a parent is discouraged, as it tends to distract both the student and the instructor. Students should be picked up promptly at the end of the lesson. Parents are to provide the following: an instrument of the best possible condition (this includes tuned pianos), a music stand (voice students), and a location allowing for uninterrupted practice. Students are expected to bring the following to each lesson: notebook, lesson/theory/technique book(s), and any other music on which they are currently working. Students are expected to practice a minimum of 30-minutes a day, six days a week. (The time may be shorter with a beginner or a very young student.)

4) Termination of Lessons — Students should notify the instructor one month in advance if they plan to stop taking lessons. Students have the option to finish the remaining lessons in a month or forfeit them, but a refund will not be given.
